Carol Ferris Casting Rumors, Down to 5!

The rumors are beginning to trickle in regarding the casting choices of Martin Campbell for the new Green Lantern live-action adaptation. The latest rumor is that the role of Hal's on-again, off-again love interest is down to 5 ladies. According to Latino Review the list is down to Eva Green of Casino Royale fame (another Martin Campbell film), Keri Russell of Felicity and Mission Impossible III, Diane Kruger of Troy and Inglorious Basterds, Blake Lively of Gossip Girl, and Jennifer Garner of Alias and Daredevil.

Chances are good for both Eva Green and Keri Russell, Eva has previous experience with Martin Campbell and Keri was one of Warner Brothers top choices to play Lois Lane in Superman Returns. Diane Kruger is coming off a strong role in Inglorious Basterds and is quickly rising on the "it" list. Lively has not yet proven herself in large film roles and Jennifer Garner is seen as a bit of a "lame duck" in comic-related films now after the lackluster Daredevil/Elektra fiasco.

My personal pick would go for Eva Green, she seems like a good choice to play a by-the-book business woman who has a soft spot for her childhood crush, besides, who doesn't want to see Eva in the Star Sapphire outfit in the future? Keri also seems to have a good "girl-next-door" quality that seems incredibly important for the character. Diane Krugar, as wonderful as she is as an actress, just doesn't seem like a good fit for the role, she's too hard-edged, and we don't know how she'd look as a brunette.
