Hector Hammond Revealed!

So we finally have our first look at one of the villains for the upcoming Green Lantern movie! The creepy, smarmy Doctor Hector Hammond, played by the talented Peter Sarsgaard.

Sarsgaard was seen walking the New Orleans set recently when the picture was taken. He's seen sporting the trademark bulbous head, receding hairline and creepy mustache that he's known for in the comics.

Hammond will be one of the two villains featured in this first Green Lantern film, the second (last we heard) was Legion, the gold-armored hive-mind with a vendetta against the Guardians of the Universe and the Green Lantern Corps.

In the comics, Hammond is infected by a meteor, which causes him to rapidly evolve, causing his brain to grow exponentially and his body to wither. The side effect of this physical change is that he develops psychic and telekinetic abilities, allowing him to effortlessly read minds and lift objects.

Hammond is known for his jealously of Hal's "perfect" life as perceived by Hammond. At first wanting the Power Ring for himself until he realizes that he lacks the will to properly control or use it.

Based on this picture, it appears that Hammond will stay true to his comic counterpart in looks and creepiness. This bodes very well for the other aliens in the film.
