Green Lantern Movie Costume Revealed! UPDATED
Behold! The Green Lantern! Tomorrow's Issue of Entertainment Weekly will debut Green Lantern's movie costume to the world. Images have, of course, been leaked online. This image has met with both praise and disdain from hardcore and casual fans alike. One thing's certain, this cover is making a impact.
The costume has come under fire from some for not looking exactly like the comic counterpart, some complain that it is completely different, however, upon close inspection, the costume is actually very similar to the comic version. What they've done is created a more alien, organic look, the black, green and white parts are all where they should be, but instead of harsh lines separating them out, they're more blended, which works with the organic look.
By far, the best parts of the costume are the white eyes and the chest emblem. Another indication that Ngila Dickson did her homework when designing the costume, the green parts of the costume are bright and spewing energy, while the dark, black parts are very subdued, this lends itself to the green parts looking hot to the touch, and the black parts looking cold.
To those fans out there still unsure of the costume, squint at it, you'll see it, its the same costume that we love from the comics, its just been brought into focus, we see the detail now.
In addition to the cover image, the issue of Entertainment Weekly includes some images from the film, notably a publicity shot of Hal in his trademark leather pilot jacket with Blake Lively as Carol Ferris. The other images include Ryan as Hal with his ring floating above his hand, and another picture of Hector Hammond (Peter Sarsgaard) lying on a table, while his father, Senator Robert Hammond (Tim Robbins) and Amanda Waller (Angela Bassett) stand over him.
I can say with all certainty that the Green Lantern hype train is now boarding, with San Diego Comic Con coming up next week, expect an explosion of Green Lantern buzz!
