Variety is reporting that Michael Goldenberg has been hired by Warner Brothers to write the screenplay for Green Lantern 2. This is an incredibly bold move from the studio, considering the first movie is practically a year away from release. It appears that Warner Brothers is incredibly confident in their new summer tent-pole franchise.

Warner Brothers has hired writers for both the unannounced Green Lantern sequel and the oft-mentioned Flash feature film. Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim have all been brought back to pen the second installment of Green Lantern after having written the film currently in production. Warner Brothers seems impressed with both the writing and the current production to have green-lit a sequel script while the first film is still a year from release. This can only mean good things for Green Lantern fans.
